The Organization

CIVPAC, the Centrist Independent Voter Political Action Committee, is an independent expenditure-only political action committee that supports centrist policy positions and moderate candidates from either party, as well as independents, where there is a plausible path to success. CIVPAC promotes practical governing judgment, democratic institutions, personal freedom, market-compatible policy, and a stable international order.

The Centrist Independent Voter Political Action Committee, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation registered with the Federal Election Commission as a non-connected, independent expenditure-only political action committee, commonly referred to as a Super PAC.

CIVPAC may support or oppose candidates in federal elections and engage in issue advocacy surrounding those elections. Independent expenditure-only PACs may not coordinate their actions with candidates, political parties, or affiliated political committees. They are also required to report certain donor information to the Federal Election Commission as required by law. CIVPAC is not currently seeking donations. Money can be useful in politics, but the larger barrier is the lack of sustained engagement among centrist, independent, and politically homeless voters. CIVPAC’s present focus is on defining a serious political center, encouraging discussion, developing practical policy positions, and supporting moderate candidates where there is a plausible path to success.

The Board of Governors may appoint additional board members, up to a maximum of twenty-five, and officers, including an Executive Director and a Treasurer. CIVPAC’s officers maintain the website, develop and publish policy positions and endorsements, and engage in issue advocacy consistent with CIVPAC’s mission. Their actions are subject to the approval of the Board of Governors.

CIVPAC’s board brings together people with senior financial, economic, technical, entrepreneurial, academic, research, government, nonprofit, national-security, and civic experience. Members have worked as chief financial officers, professional economists, computer scientists, educators, nonprofit board members, and founders and operators of successful small businesses. That mix reflects CIVPAC’s emphasis on fiscal realism, incentives, institutional competence, practical problem-solving, and the difference between policies that sound attractive and policies that are likely to work.

CIVPAC is continuing to recruit additional members for its Board of Governors and advisory roles. Our goal is to build a board that reflects a broad range of centrist and center-leaning perspectives while sharing a commitment to pragmatic policy, democratic institutions, and serious civic engagement. We are particularly interested in people who would broaden the board’s range of age, geography, professional experience, campaign experience, policy expertise, and political perspective. Membership on the Board of Governors does not imply agreement with every CIVPAC policy position or endorsement.

Use Our Ideas

CIVPAC encourages others to quote, adapt, and share our policy language and arguments. Our goal is to promote centrist ideas, not to control their wording. Unless otherwise noted, CIVPAC’s original written content may be copied, quoted, excerpted, reposted, or adapted without permission and without attribution. We appreciate attribution and links, but we do not require them. This permission does not apply to third-party material, quoted passages, images, logos, trademarks, or linked content that CIVPAC does not own.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

In the spring of 2026, CIVPAC began using AI tools to assist with research, drafting, editing, and issue analysis. All policy positions, endorsements, and published judgments are reviewed, revised, and approved by CIVPAC. AI assistance does not replace CIVPAC’s judgment or responsibility for the views expressed on this site.

CIVPAC’s Board reflects a range of perspectives across the political center, from center-left to center-right. While members do not agree on every issue, they share a commitment to evaluating policy based on evidence, tradeoffs, and real-world outcomes.

Officers

The Board of Governors selects a Chairperson, an Executive Director, a Treasurer, and such other officers as it deems appropriate.

Other Centrist Groups

We are not in competition with other centrist groups and encourage you to seek out these groups and actively participate in them. We are nonjudgmental about how centrist each of these groups really is. Some of these groups lean left, some of them lean right. At this point, we are happy to include any group making a genuine effort.

We encourage engagement with a range of centrist and reform-oriented organizations. These groups vary in perspective, and we welcome that diversity.

Groups that we are aware of include (in random order): No Labels, Unite America, the Bipartisan Policy Center, Third Way, Represent Us, the Campaign Legal Center, FairVote, Quadrivium, New America, Inform Your Vote, the Bridge Alliance, Braver Angels, Country1st, the Independent Center, and the Forward Party. If you are aware of other groups that should be included in this list, please contact us and let us know. If you have reason to believe that any of these groups should not be included in our list, please let us know that, too.

While these organizations play an important role in promoting centrist ideas, candidates, and procedural reforms such as open primaries and ranked-choice voting, CIVPAC focuses specifically on developing detailed policy positions. We seek to make tradeoffs explicit, address competing priorities directly, and identify solutions that are economically efficient, fair, protective of individual freedom, and politically realistic in practice.
