The Organization
The Centrist Independent Voter Political Action Committee, Inc. (CIVPAC) is a non-profit corporation. The objective of CIVPAC is to promote the election of centrist candidates whether Democratic, Republican, or independents and to promote a centrist public policy agenda.
CIVPAC is registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) as a non-connected, “independent expenditure only” Political Action Committee, commonly referred to as a “Super PAC.”
CIVPAC is free to support or oppose the election of candidates in federal elections and freely engage in issue advocacy surrounding those elections. CIVPAC is not currently seeking donations. However, the size of donations to these kinds of organizations is not constrained by the FEC, nor are these kinds of PACs limited in the amount of money that they can spend on the support of or opposition to candidates for federal election. They are, however, prohibited from coordinating their actions with the candidates, their political parties, or their affiliated political committees. In addition, a PAC must report the name, address, occupation, and name of employer to the FEC for donations in excess of $200 per calendar year. All donors must be U.S. citizens and if they are not over 18, their donations must be from their own funds.
The Board of Governors will appoint additional Board Members (up to a maximum of twenty-five) and officers, including an Executive Director and a Treasurer. These officers will launch and maintain the website, and use it to support the election of candidates whose views are consistent with those of CIVPAC. They will also engage in issue advocacy efforts to support the points of view presented on CIVPAC’s website. The actions of the officers of CIVPAC will be subject to the approval of the Board of Governors.
We are now recruiting additional Board Members. Our objective is to have a Board that reflects as broad a range of political perspectives as possible, while remaining philosophically centrist. Membership on the Board of Governors does not imply that a Board member necessarily agrees with all of the policy positions or endorsements of CIVPAC.
If you would like to be considered for membership on the Board of Governors, please Contact Us with a brief summary of your background and your political philosophy.
