You may have noticed that our color of choice on this website is purple. That is not an original choice. Lots of centrist organizations choose purple because that is what you get when you mix blue and red.

I was a bit surprised to see that the “Working Families Party” (WFP) also uses the color purple. If you read their appeals for funding quickly, you might be tricked into thinking that they were a centrist organization. Nothing could be further from the truth. The most prominent members of the “Working Families Party” are Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez. The group represents the far left in American politics.

They mostly operate as a subset of the Democratic Party, but do occasionally run candidates and are organized in a number of states as a separate Party. They claim to have endorsed some Republican candidates, but I cannot find examples of this. If any of you are aware of who that might be, I would be curious?

The other thing that is annoying about them is the name. Do they claim to represent everyone other than the idle rich, retired people, the homeless, and single people? When you listen to the members of the WFP, they pepper their speeches with the phrase “working families.” I suspect that some polling firm told them the phrase was attractive and vague enough not to offend most people.

Don’t be fooled. The color purple does not always mean centrist and “working families” doesn’t tell you anything at all. This group is as far left as it gets, in American politics.
